Thinking Together

Eli, Fred and Jaxon didn't have enough blocks for each of them to make their own vehicle so they put their ideas together all by themselves and made a great big vehicle that no one else had thought of before. It has passengers hidden inside of it and wheels that drive it. Tu meke learning boys I love how you put your ideas together to make the best idea.

Fabric and Fibre

W
e have been invstigating what fibre is and how fabric is made. Helene, our specialist guest speaker, came to talk to us about the different kinds of fibre and fabric that we can get. We found out that fibre can be synthetic which is man made, or it can come from an animal like silk moth, wool or leather but also plants, like rayon which is made from wood pulp and cotton is made from the cotton plant.

We looked at the different ways the fabric was put together. We could see squares in the fabric and strands coming out of the side. The wool was twisted and wound around together.
Helene showed us that when you burn fabric you can tell what kind of fabric it is by the kind of ash that it leaves behind. We learnt so much. Thank you Helene.

Gold Panning

Yestersday we went panning for gold. Bryne explained that you put the gravel in the pan and swoosh it around with water and the gold was so small it was hard to see at the side of the pan.

Golden Leaves

We went on a tresure hunt this morning and found some golden leaves. Our trees look very pretty with all of their magic colours hanging on them.
